ABOUT THIS ALBUM: David Gates was a lead singer and member of the successful band Bread. In later years, he was a solo artist. Goodbye Girl is the third solo album by David Gates. The song “Goodbye Girl” was also used in the movie of the same name.
“Took the Last Train” was released as a follow-up single, which also became a U.S. and Canadian Top 40 hit.
Only tracks 1-4, 6 and 7 are new material; the remaining tracks are reissued from previous albums.
WHY I CHOSE THIS ALBUM: I selected it for the song “Took the Last Train” which has a catchy rhythm and because some of the lyrics are sung in French. Being a sax player, I like the sax riffs, too.
